XRBR, an entity that promotes businesses and knowledge in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) throughout Brazil, elected its new leadership for next year: Karina Israel, CEO of YDreams Global. Karina will be the first woman to chair the organization created in 2018 to gather the country’s leading companies and professionals in immersive media. Simone Kliass, also a founding partner of the association, will serve as VP.
“Our goal is to bring more value to the association, prioritizing benefits and partnerships that are of greatest interest to our members. To strengthen initiatives and leadership operating in Brazil in the extended realities segment, fostering our sector and activing positively towards government entities and corporations. We understand that we need to be more diverse and representative and that expanding to the other regions of Brazil is essential”, said Karina Israel in her first speech after her election was confirmed.
Karina Israel stated that the new board will continue the work of the first two presidents, Rawlinson Terrabuio and Ric Lebre, which is to bring greater representativity to the sector, create opportunities for expanding knowledge, access to equipment, experiences exchange and promotion of new businesses, in addition to disseminating the AR/VR/MR throughout Brazil, as well as participating in public policies. “We understand that the time has come to consolidate ourselves, seeking to increase the perceived value and benefits for associates, publishing the mapping data of our ecosystem and expanding it throughout Brazil”, said the president of XRBR.
Simone Kliass celebrates the approval of the members of a ticket formed by female leaders, portraying the prominence that many female executives have achieved in the technology segment. “This represents an achievement for women in technology. In addition to both president and vice-president being women, we also have a large female representation in the association’s new board,” she sayid.
The vice president also highlights the fact that the associates represent the very best in creativity and technological capacity in the extended realities industry both in Brazil and the world. Among their work is the first Primetime Emmy in Brazil for The Line da Árvore as the best “exceptional innovation in interactive programming”; “Rio de Lama”, by Tadeu Jungle, which won the award for Best Film at the UN, Beenoculus, which in 2015 developed the first virtual reality headset manufactured in the country, the famous Location Based VR Arkave platform from YDreams Global; the Venturion hyperreality, 3D forensics by Studio Kwo; as well as numerous other achievements in festivals, including an Oscar nomination for the film Democracy in Vertigo, with sound design by INPUT| sound art.
